Jerry Twombly has worked in the area of organisational development for over 45 years. After serving in various administrative roles in higher education, Jerry left his post as Vice President for Advancement at Grace College and Theological Seminary in 1986 to establish a consulting firm.
Jerry’s consulting clients span the globe and include multi-national ministries, universities, schools, mission organisations, and other non-governmental organisations committed to serving God and others. He has written several books including Funding Your Vision: New Hope for Nonprofits (considered the defining book on relational development), Transforming Culture: The Church at Work in the World, and You Snooze, You Lose: Thriving in a Turbulent Economy.
THE GOAL: To walk through an entire year with leaders of organisations, addressing each of the typical issues that occur at various stages of the developmental year, and to explore the intricacies of how to build a sustainable 21st century ministry.
THE PLAN
THE PARTICIPANTS: Twelve leaders of organisations who are willing to commit to being a part of a learning community based upon the above outlined stipulations.
THE QUALIFICATIONS: Each participant must be in an administrative role within an organisation, whether as a staff member or as a volunteer, with development-related work (fundraising, client recruitment, public relations, planning, etc.).
THE COMMITMENTS: In addition to submitting an application, in order to be accepted as a participant, you will need to commit to the following:
*Students electing to pursue the professional development certification CDP (Certified Development Professional) can complete all requirements during the course of this year.
THE 2016 RETREAT: All Organisational Development participants will meet with Jerry Twombly at Malenovice, Czech Rebuplic for a retreat (9-12 January 2017). The cost will be 100 euros for Eastern Europeans, and 120 euros for Western Europeans. Payments, and planning for the retreat will be worked out with Jerry Twombly. Participants should pay for their own travel expenses.
THE 2016 NETWORK: All Organisational Development participants will meet with Jerry Twombly in Wisła, Poland for the 2016 Forum Organizational Development/Fundraising Network. Participants must also apply for the Forum separately and be accepted. Participants should also pay for their own travel expenses to the Forum.

Case Studies and Sharing: This time will be spent working through a wide range of development scenarios, situations common to ministry of every kind. Students will work together in analyzing each scenario and building a case to address the challenges faced by the nonprofit in each example provided. We will also have further opportunity to discuss individual challenges, seeking the engagement of others.
